East Tāmaki was largely dairy farmland until the 1960s. Today it is one of Auckland's big business areas, including the Highbrook business park on the eastern shore of the Tāmaki River, with fast-growing residential neighbourhoods alongside. So the roofs we work on here range from large low-pitch industrial roofs to family homes within sight of Te Puke o Tara.

Commercial roofs bring their own risks: long sheet runs, box gutters, plant penetrations and the need to keep a business running while the work goes on. We stage work around your operations and give an itemised written quote after a free on-site measure, whether it is one leaking box gutter or a full re-roof.

Roofing Services in East Tāmaki

Every other roofing service we offer in East Tāmaki, and what each one covers:

  • Roof Replacement: When repairs no longer make sense, we replace the roof completely and leave you with a roof that is good for decades.
  • Tile to Metal Re-Roofing: Swapping heavy concrete tiles for lightweight steel removes weight from the frame and ends the cycle of cracked tiles and leaks.
  • Asbestos Roof Replacement: Older Super Six and fibre cement roofs can contain asbestos.
  • Decramastic Roof Replacement: Decramastic tiles lose their chip coating and rust from the inside.
  • Roof Leak Repairs: We track a leak to its source, which is often nowhere near the stain on your ceiling, and fix the cause.
  • Emergency Roof Repairs: Storm damage made safe fast, then repaired with the photos and reports your insurer needs.
  • Tile Roof Repairs: Cracked and slipped tiles replaced, ridges rebedded and repointed, and leaks under tiles traced and sealed.
  • Roof Flashing: Flashings around chimneys, skylights, walls and valleys cause most leaks.
  • New Roofs: New roofs for new builds, extensions and minor dwellings, installed to plans and signed off for your Code Compliance Certificate.
  • Metal Roofing: Longrun COLORSTEEL roofing in corrugate and trapezoidal profiles, rolled to length for your roof.
  • Membrane Roofing: Flat and low-pitch roofs, decks and gutters waterproofed with butynol and modern membrane systems.
  • Skylights: Roof windows and skylights installed or replaced with proper flashing kits, so the light comes in and the water does not.
  • Spouting and Gutters: New spouting, gutter replacement and repairs in steel and PVC, sized to carry Auckland downpours.
  • Downpipes and Fascia: Downpipes and fascia replaced or repaired, often alongside new spouting or a re-roof.
  • Roof Painting: Roof painting that starts with proper preparation: wash, treat, repair and prime, then two coats of roof paint.
  • Roof Washing: Moss, lichen and grime removed with the right treatment for your roof type, without damaging the surface.
  • Roof Inspections: A detailed roof report with photos and honest repair or replace advice, for owners, buyers and insurers.
  • Roof Ventilation: Roof and ceiling space ventilation that reduces condensation, mould and heat build-up.
  • Commercial Roofing: Re-roofs, repairs and maintenance plans for commercial, industrial and multi-unit buildings.

East Tāmaki Homes and Their Roofs

Most buildings in East Tāmaki are industrial and commercial, so low-pitch longrun roofs, long sheet runs and box gutters are the norm. Many older box gutters were never sized for the roof area they now serve, especially after extensions, and BRANZ recommends designing internal gutters for higher rainfall intensity, with overflows that can take the full flow. Plant and equipment penetrations add flashings that need regular checks. The nearby homes are largely from the late 1990s and 2000s, where parapets and internal gutters deserve the same attention.

What East Tāmaki Conditions Mean for Your Roof

Highbrook sits on the Tāmaki River, so buildings near the water can fall into an estuary or sea spray exposure zone that affects steel grade and fasteners. Large flat sites are open to wind, and long sheet runs need fixings matched to the wind zone. On commercial roofs, ponding, blocked outlets and lifted membrane edges are common issues. Buildings from before 2000 may have fibre cement roofing, which needs testing before any work.

Roofers East Tāmaki FAQs

Can you work on our roof without shutting down operations?

Yes. We stage commercial work so only part of the roof is open at a time, plan around deliveries and shifts, and agree safe access zones with you before we start. Weather is watched closely, and we will not open a section with heavy rain or strong wind forecast.

Our box gutter overflows in heavy rain. Why?

Many older box gutters were never sized for the roof area they now drain, and some have no overflow at all. We check the gutter size, falls and outlets against the roof area, then recommend a repair, a reline or a resized gutter with a proper overflow.

Do you offer planned maintenance for commercial roofs?

Yes. Regular inspections of box gutters, outlets, penetrations and flashings catch small problems before they become leaks over stock or equipment. We give you a written report with photos after each visit.

Our building has old fibre cement roofing. Can you replace it?

Yes, but it needs testing first, because fibre cement made before 2000 may contain asbestos. If it does, removal of more than 10 square metres must be done by a licensed removalist under WorkSafe rules, and we then fit the new steel roof.
